What’s Happening at The Lake | Mid-October 2025 Edition

🍁 Fall in Full Color

HI FRIENDS—October in Lake Geneva is beginning to settle into that golden stretch we wait for all year. The trees glow, the air crackles with bonfire smoke, and every weekend feels like a new chapter in our favorite small-town story.

At YourWiscoHome.com, we believe real estate is more than square footage—it’s about lifestyle and community. So grab your scarf and pumpkin latte and let Kim & Joel Reyenga of eXp Realty walk you through the can’t-miss events still ahead this October.

🕯️ Yerkes Candlelight Walk | Oct 17–18 | Williams Bay

Few experiences capture the spirit of autumn like this one. Picture 2,000 candles illuminating the historic Olmsted grounds of Yerkes Observatory, casting a soft glow across its ornate architecture and towering trees.

Families wander the lit paths, music plays gently from the gardens, and the giant dome opens for a peek at the night sky. Free trolley rides run from Williams Bay School for easy parking and access

🎟️ Tickets $15 adults / $10 kids | Rain or shine—bundle up and bring a camera.

👻 Spooky Season in Full Swing

The Lake Geneva area knows how to do Halloween right—equal parts history, mystery, and fun for every age.

💀 Halloween Legends & Lore | Old World Wisconsin (Eagle, WI)

Fridays & Saturdays through Oct 25 (5–9:30 p.m.)
Step back into Victorian-era Wisconsin as lanterns light Crossroads Village and costumed storytellers recount folklore, ghost tales, and old-world superstitions. Local vendors serve warm apple crisp and seasonal beer. Beware the Grim Reaper may be prowling the dark paths. He scared us last year.

Children under 5 are free; others $17–22. A perfect family outing for those who like their Halloween with a side of heritage.

🌲 Haunted Hayride & Hay Barn | Dan Patch Stables (Grand Geneva Resort)

Fridays & Saturdays (6–11 p.m.) through Oct 25
Ride through the darkened woods as ghostly figures and startling scenes appear under moonlight. Early rides (before 7 p.m.) are kid-friendly; later ones ramp up the scares. $25 adults / $10 kids / $10 for the Hay Barn walk-through.

📜 Poe at the Point | Black Point Estate Cruise

Cruise Geneva Lake by moonlight to the legendary Black Point Estate for dramatic readings of Edgar Allan Poe’s darkest works. Guests tour the first floor of the mansion after dark (yes—rumor says it’s haunted!). Tickets $49–68 and sell fast

🕵️ Sordid & Scandalous Walking Tour | Downtown Lake Geneva

Hear the wild stories of gangsters, socialites, and the infamous “sea serpent” as you stroll the Maple Park district with a guide from the Wisconsin Historical Society. Runs Oct 18 & Oct 25 | $15 tickets via wisconsinhistory.org

🎭 Gala Glamour: Musique of the Night | Oct 25 | Grand Geneva Resort & Spa

The Geneva Lake Women’s Association returns with its second annual masquerade benefit—Musique of the Night. Inspired by The Phantom of the Opera, this formal evening features live music, dinner, and dancing under the chandeliers of the Grand Geneva

Funds raised support local charities and student scholarships throughout Walworth County. Guests who book the weekend enjoy exclusive discounts at boutiques, restaurants, and hotels around town—a perfect excuse for a fall getaway.

🎟️ Tickets at GLWA.net | Formal attire and masks encouraged.

🚴 Cycling & Cinema Weekend | Oct 25–26 | Geneva Stage & Avant Cycles

Adventure meets art this month with Avant Cycles’ film screening “Tracing the Divide.” The documentary follows two friends biking 2,400 miles from Canada to Mexico along the Great Divide Route—captured by Lake Geneva native Jack Zakrajsek.

📍 Geneva Stage | Oct 25 @ Noon
Enjoy the show and Q&A with the director and riders afterward

The fun continues Sunday with the Fall Cider Tour—a 15-mile ride from Avant Cycles to Hafs Apple Orchard in Genoa City, with stops at local parks and a post-ride pickup for your apple haul
